1. Press wide end of egg on tabletop to flatten. Draw oval on egg to mark stomach area. Paint egg black except for stomach area. Let dry.
2. Whittle one end of each craft stick to form tips for skis. Paint skis and two toothpicks red. Let dry.
3. Using pattern, cut two wings from black felt. Cut from felt: elongated orange diamond for beak; two pink circles for cheeks; and two small green holly leaves.
4. Fold knit fabric in half, right sides together. Stitch a 1/4" seam along top and side; turn right side out. Turn up bottom edge twice; baste cuff at the back seam to hold in place.
5. Glue egg to skis. Glue hat to top of egg. Glue on eyes, beak, cheeks and wings. Push sequins onto ends of toothpicks. Glue toothpicks to tips of wings. Tie ribbon in loop; pin to front of hat so penguin will hang straight. Pin holly leaves on hat using remaining red quilt pins.
