INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Wax serrated knife blade with old candle. Cut a 1/3 slice lengthwise from the 3-1/16" x 2-5/16" foam eggs for center and right chick bodies. The 2/3 egg is the body back and the 1/3 slice is the body front. Repeat for left chick, using one 2-1/2" x 1-7/8" egg, except you will use only the 2/3 egg for its body and discard the 1/3 slice.
2. Cut one 2-1/2" x 1-7/8" egg and three 1-15/16" x 1-1/2" eggs in half lengthwise for center and right chick wings and feet.
3. Press foam balls on a flat surface to slightly flatten bottom of each chick head. Repeat to slightly flatten narrow top of each egg piece.
4. Using patterns, cut out felt pieces as indicated. From felt, use a compass to cut following circles: three 4" lemon frost plush for heads, one 3" lemon frost plush for left chick outer wings, and one 3" light yellow for left chick inner wings. Cut the 3" circle wings in half.
5. Center foam balls and eggs flat side up on wrong side of corresponding felt pieces. Wrap felt around foam onto flat edge and pin at top, bottom, and center of each side. Adjust excess fabric between pins, smoothing gathers; glue in place. Remove pins. Trim excess felt as necessary.
6. Pair felt beaks and glue horizontally to center of each head. Glue along base only so beaks appear open.
7. Poke scissors tip through felt to create two small eyeholes above beak on each chick. Glue 5mm black beads in holes for eyes. Brush powdered blush on cheeks with a cotton swab.
8. Use photo as a guide to assemble chicks. For center and left chicks, glue foot pads to bottom of feet and inner wings to uncovered portion of outer wings. Glue body fronts to body backs with flat sides together. Glue heads to narrow top of egg bodies and feet to wide bottom. For center chick, glue wings to shoulders spread outward with light yellow side showing. For right chick, glue wings tucked close to body with plush side showing.
9. For left chick, pair a lemon frost plush felt wing with a light yellow wing and glue wrong sides together. Fold each wing in half with plush side showing and glue along straight edge only. Glue straight edge of wings to opposite sides of body.
10. Cut three 12" lengths of 3/8" ribbon. Tie ribbons into small bows and glue to chicks' necks.
11. Glue 7/8" ribbon around hat crown, letting two, 12" streamers trail off one side. Trim ribbon as necessary. From remaining ribbon, form a bow with five 4" loops. Glue bow to hatband opposite ribbon streamers.
12. Using photo as a guide, tuck left chick between bow loops and glue. Fill in around bow with small flowers. Glue center chick under hat brim at front and right chick holding ribbon streamers.
