MATERIALS NEEDED:
STYROFOAM* Brand Products:
1- 2 3/8" Long Eggs
1- 12"x18"x1" Sheet

Terra Cotta Pots:
1- 1 1/2" tall
1- 2 1/2" tall
1- 4 1/2" tall

Acrylic Paint:
light green

Pastel Paints for Pots (optional):
yellow
pink
light blue
lavender
terra cotta

Other Materials:
dried split peas
fine gravel or Spanish or floral moss
dried or silk flowers suitable for cactus

Supplies:
Brush, 3/4" glaze
X-actoŽ knife, coping saw, or sharp steak knife
Scissors
Paper for patterns
Pencil
Glue gun
Round toothpicks
Straight pins

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Pots: If desired, paint the 1 1/2" pot blue, the 2 1/2" pots pink and lavender, and the 4 1/2" pot yellow; let dry. Fill in the pots with scraps cut from the foam sheet.
2. Yellow Pot Cactus: Transfer (see Pattern #1) the large cactus pattern to the 1" sheet of STYROFOAM. Transfer another large and small arm as shown by the dashed lines; cut out. Use a pencil to mark the cactus grooves, then use a sharp knife to cut V-shaped grooves. Join the cactus pieces as shown in photo, with additional large arm at the lower back. Paint light green; let dry. Glue to top of block. Arrange and glue moss around base of cactus. Glue flower to top of each large cactus arm.
3. Pink Pot Cactus: Transfer (see Pattern #2) the medium cactus pattern and cut two additional left arms. Assemble following Step 2. (Do not use moss or flowers). Apply a layer of glue around the cactus and sprinkle gravel over it; let dry. Paint gravel terra cotta (if desired).
4. Purple Pot Cactus: Use a pencil to mark grooves 3/4" apart in the egg of STYROFOAM. Use a knife to cut V-shaped grooves. Sand edges round with a scrap piece of STYROFOAM. Cut 1" toothpick lengths and insert into raised areas between the grooves. Paint cactus light green; let dry. Glue cactus to the foam top. Apply layer of glue around the cactus and sprinkle gravel over it; let dry. Paint gravel terra cotta (if desired). Glue flower to top.
5. Blue Pot Cactus: Transfer the small cactus pattern to the 1/2" sheet of STYROFOAM; cut out. Glue peas to each side of the upper cactus as shown. Cut toothpicks to 1" and insert them around the edges. Paint cactus light green; let dry. Glue cactus to foam top. Apply layer of glue around the cactus; sprinkle gravel over the glue; let dry. Paint gravel (if desired).
